Solid Geology maps show the 'bedrock' geology of the UK in which geological strata are indicated by different colours. Quaternary Geology maps show the superfical deposits – commonly termed 'drift' deposits. 'Solid' (bedrock) geology is not normally shown on maps for offshore areas.
