Dolgarrog - Classical Areas Guide

This handbook describes the geology of the district covered by the 1:25000 map, SH 76. On its eastern side it includes the town of Llanrwst and the villages of Trefriw, Dolgarrog and Tal-y-bont, on the edge of the broad alluvial flat of the River Conwy.
Formerly the Conwy broadly divided the counties of Caernarvonshire on the west from Denbighshire on the east, but now the whole of the district forms part of the county of Gwynedd, named after the ancient realm which in the middle of the 13th century extended across most of the high ground of north-west Wales. Much of the area to the west of the Conwy lies within the Snowdonia National Park.
